The Exotic Weaves collection consists of exceptionally crafted Tibetan
rugs designed to accentuate a variety of living spaces.
The
craftsmanship involved in creating these rugs is truly amazing. Thousands
of hours are involved in creating each Exotic Weaves rug. Each of our
rugs is made of 100% wool from the Himalayan highlands. The Himalayan
wool produces some of the best carpets in the world because of its
resilience and silky properties. The sheared wool is collected and
carefully hand-carded to remove all of its impurities. The wool is then
spun by hand into a fine quality yarn. Swiss dyes are used to dye
the yarn into an infinite array of colors. These dyes are superb as
they retain their color and vibrancy much longer. The design is
carefully drawn on a full-scale grid that the weavers use as a
blueprint to create the rug. Each rug is then woven by hand, one
knot at a time. The dedication and commitment displayed by each Weaver
is unquestionable when you consider that there are approximately 1
Million knots in an 8’ x 11’ Exotic Weaves Rug. Once completed, the rug
is cut from the loom and each design element is hand-carved with large
scissors to accentuate the detail. Given the number of skilled
craftsman and the thousands of hours involved, an Exotic Weaves Rug is
truly a hand-made masterpiece.
